Close to 50 residents of Henry and Fulton counties attended a public hearing concerning the potential move of State route 66 to a new alignment to the west, on the current road 24. Henry County Commissioner Tom VonDeylen was there and said most of the people that spoke at the hearing were against the project.
A grant of 1.37 million dollars has been offered by ODOT for a feasibility study to take a closer look at the move; with the village of Archbold picking-up the rest of the tab for the study. The joint board of Henry and Fulton County Commissioners voted 5 to 1 to proceed with the study only; with Commissioner Hastedt voting no. The passage means engineering firms will be sought to conduct that study, which should yield a cost, and challenges this project would face.
